10 Easy Yoga Poses to Start Your Day Off Right

Yoga can be a great way to start your day off right and consistent practice is linked to increased general wellness.  If you're a beginner, check out the poses bellow.  If you're more experienced, these can be a good way to brush up on the basics.

1. Happy Baby Pose

Also Called Ananda Balasana

Benefits: Gently stretches the inner groins and the back spine Calms the brain and helps relieve stress and fatigue


2. Low Lunge

Also Called Anjaneyasana

Beginner's Tip: To improve balance practice this pose facing a wall. Press the big toe of the front foot against the wall and stretch your arms up, finger tips to the wall.


3. Standing Half Forward Bend

Also Called: Ardha Uttanasana

Benefits: Stretches the front torso Strengthens the back and improves posture Stimulates the belly


4. Root Bond

Also Called: Mula Bandha

Benefits: Enlivens the entire spine to support the sitting position


5. Extended Puppy Pose

Also Called: Uttana Shishosana

Benefits: Stretches the spine and shoulders


6. Garland Pose

Also Called: Malasana

Benefits: Stretches the ankles, groins and back torso


7. Cow Pose

Also Called: Bitilasana

Benefits: Provides a gentle massage to the spine and belly organs


8. Warrior I Pose

Also Called: Virabhadrasana I

Benefits: Strengthens and stretches the thighs, calves, and ankles


9. Extended Side Angle Pose

Also Called: Utthita Parsvakonasana

Benefits: Stretches the groins, spine, waist, chest and lungs, and shoulders


10. Reclining Bound Angle Pose

Also Called: Supta Baddha Konasana

Benefits: Stimulates abdominal organs like the ovaries and prostate gland, bladder, and kidneys
