Top 5 Places for a Wine Lover's Summer

Summer is fast approaching and its time to start planning where your vacation will take you.  Gorgeous vineyards and beautiful vistas await you in these locations which include a mix of famous tourist destinations to smaller more intimate experiences.

5. Finger Lakes Wine Country, New York

There are now over 100 wineries (and growing) throughout the Finger Lakes, and some have been gaining admirers in New York City restaurants and throughout the world. All this attention and these recent awards seem to have bewildered local winemakers, who have been practicing their craft for years.

4. Chautauqua Wine Trail

The Chautauqua Wine Trail is ocated on the south shore of beautiful Lake Erie in Pennsylvania and New York. Here you’ll step back in time as you explore the wineries, villages and beaches that are nestled among green rolling hills in the midst of 30,000 contiguous acres of luscious, fragrant grape vineyards.

3. Willamette Valley, Oregon

The Willamette Valley, Oregon’s leading wine region, has two-thirds of the state’s wineries and vineyards and is home to more than 500 wineries. It is recognized as one of the premier Pinot noir producing areas in the world.

2. Western Iowa Wine Trail

Six wineries currently dot the wine trail stretching from Minden to Thurman and back to Crescent.  All of the wineries along the trail offer tastings (often poured by the winemakers themselves), local art works, and retail wine sales. Many offer sales of wine by the glass and food items to be enjoyed on their decks or in their tasting rooms.

1. Napa Valley, California

Napa Valley is the ultimate wine country, with over 500 wineries dotting the picturesque valley. Just 30 miles long and 5 miles wide, Napa Valley has the perfect climate, soil, and topography to harvest legendary Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Beyond wine, Napa Valley is a transformative utopia with gourmet dining, deluxe lodging, and modern culture. Welcome to wine country paradise!
